Fig Tree

I have a fig tree and every time a fig on it starts to ripen, something is coming along and eating it. I have hundreds of figs that are half eaten by something with sharp teeth and claws. Is there anything i can do to prevent this from happening?

Birds and Squirrels are known to eat Figs!
