Ficus tree dropping leaves

My ficus is planted outdoors, established for several years. In the last couple of weeks, it has dropped more than 50% of its leaves. The stems are not dried out, see no new leaf growth. Here in Florida, we have had a lot of rain, but that’s not unusual. No bugs no yellow leaves. What’s wrong?

Assuming this is a weeping fig, Ficus benjamina, leaf drop is a fact of life. They drop leaves when any change is done. Even moving from one side of a room to another. The fact that you just trimmed it would be the reason for the sudden dropping of the leaves and should clear up on its own.
