Q.Ficus benjamina outdoors

Zone Vermont | Davejoyal added on June 27, 2015 | Answered

Any negative affects from this (see pic)? Sometimes I feel like we get too much rain here (VT). When the soil is already moist and heavy rain is in the forecast, I put a plastic bag around the pot to prevent over watering. Any ill affects from this? Of course, I take it off as soon as the rain stops. Never left on for more than 24 hours. Thanks!

As a temporary remedy, I would not see an issue.

The roots and soil need to be able to drain and have air circulation so perhaps just covering the top of the pot would work just as well and reduce the stress and possibility of molds and fungus forming.
