Fibrous begonias

I live in Northern California and have a large bed off fibrous begonias. Can I cut them to the ground before the first hard frost without losing them the following growing season?

You will need to lift the plants and put them in pots to bring indoors for winter.
Begonias will not survive temperatures below freezing.
