Fiberglass Planter And Dicksonia Fern

Hi, please could you help me with 3 questions 1, Can I transfer a 8 year old camellia from a medium plastic pot which I have drilled extra drainage holes in, to a large fiberglass pot that only has a one reasonable central hole in base, I cannot drill this material due to risk of splitting. Will this hole give enough drainage? 2, I have a 3 year old Dicksonia antarctica, which I have not fed yet, but it is doing very well in plastic well drained pot. Can I feed this plant with lawn feed? I have heard this is possible. 3, my 5 year old apple tree only produce good crop the first year I had it, then no fruit for a couple of years and past few years, it appears the fruits are infected with a type of worm. Heavy rains have caused a type of moss on the branches that I can scape off, so I think it’s ok but what do I do to get a good crop this year? This tree is in a very large well drained plastic planter. Thank you so much in advance.

I think your camellia will be fine in the new pot. Make sure the soil is very well draining, adding some perlite will help.

You wouldn't need to fertilize the tree fern until it is over a year old. You can use lawn fertilizer on plants that need nitrogen only applications such as tomatoes. You would need to make sure it is not the type that also has weed killer in it.

I am including info on growing apple trees.
