Q.Fertilizing with chicken manure

Zone 42104 | Anonymous added on June 15, 2018 | Answered

I have 2 4’x8′ raised garden beds. I also have chickens. I spread manure throughout the beds sparingly about 4 cups or less per bed. I didn’t put them up close to the stems. Do you think this will burn up or kill my plants? Hoping this will be safe since I didn’t use a lot of manure. Thanks!

4 cups in a 4 x 8 raised bed does not sound like much; Chicken manure is very high in nitrogen. The effects could be in lack of fruiting. If you see issues with lush green plants, you could add some phosphorous to help balance the soil nutrients.
