Female Sago Palm developed pod

Female Sago Palm developed pod as though she were pupping, but instead huge fronds developed. This has never happened before, so I am curious as to what this procedure is. Every other year pups are produced. Is this something that happens every 10 years or so?

You have had your plant develop a 2nd head.
