Female Sago Palm

We thought our Sagos had frozen, but all began putting on new growth. Instead of greenery, one has put on a large, round puff. Last year, a male plant put on the cone and a landscaper told us to cut it off or new greenery would not grow. Should we go ahead and cut the ‘puff’ off? My husband has already cut off all the yellow branches. The puff is all that is left. Hope he didn’t kill it!
