And have not dried in the sun Our tv master gardener did not warn of this He’s into frost Our morning temps were 44 or 46 not frost temps But apparently in this state way too many elements at once to really maintain any healthy plants And we question Think plants need covering in the 40s and 50s or there are bad things in the rainwater In this state never had dirty rain until 3 yrs ago.

If these are annual plants it wouldn't hurt to cover them if temps are in the 40s. If they are perennial flower plants they should not need to be covered. I would worry about the excessive rain and the soil not drying out, which can lead to root rot.

If these are small containers, and the soil is not drying, you can lightly work in some perlite to help drainage, or you can repot in fresh soil with about 1/3 perlite added. If they are large containers, you can still work in some perlite. It's OK to leave it mostly in the top inch or two because it will work its way down during waterings.
