If a eucalyptus tree appears to have excessive bark peeling, does that denote a problem? If so, what can be done to resolve the issue?

Most likely not. Many eucalyptus trees have bark that peels naturally and the peeling will get more pronounced as the tree ages. It is considered to be an aesthetically appealing feature of many varieties of mature eucalyptus.
