Evasive English ivy in lawn

I recently bought an old house that has many lawn/gardening issues, one of which is invasive English Ivy. I also have tons of Creeping Charlie. There is grass in there, but I’m wondering if I should just till the lawn totally, and start from scratch. I understand that if I try and pull it by hand and treat with herbicides, I have to get ALL of it or it will just keep coming back. Thus, my thought about just ripping out the entire lawn and starting over. Any tips for me if I rip out the entire lawn to prevent it from reappearing?

Thanks.
