Euonymus standard with scab

Last September my old very well established standard euonymus was diagnosed with a bad case of scab. I was advised to spray twice with the advised spray and told to feed in spring and it would recover. It’s now April and it is not recovering. Should give it more time or dig it out and destroy? It the latter , I would like to replace it but concerned the soil may be affected and another such tree may be a bad idea. Please advise.

It’s difficult for me to determine the state of your plant and whether it is responding to the treatment or worth saving.
If you do remove the plant make sure you remove all leaves and plant material and dispose of.
I would solarize the area before planting again.
