Q.Eucalyptus tree with dead leaves

Zone south of France | daphtlc added on May 18, 2012 | Answered

I have read your answers to other questions and it is clear that my eucalyptus trees have been badly affected by a severe cold winter. They are about 4 metres tall and have lost almost all their leaves. New leaves appear to be growing on the end of some of the branches. Would it be better to cut the branches back, and if so, by how much or will the leaves regrow along the length of the branches?

If the upper branches are truly dead, then yes, you can cut them off. If they are still green, they can regrow their leaves. Here is an article that you may find helpful: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/plant-problems/environmental/tips-for-saving-cold-damaged-plants.htm
