Q.Eucalyptus Leaves Changing Shape

Anonymous added on October 26, 2014 | Answered

The new leaves on my Dalrympleana mountain gum eucalyptus tree, which was planted this spring, have grown pear shaped and not circular like the original leaves were when planted. Please advise as to why this is.

There are several species of Eucalyptus that produce two or even three changes of foliage style as they mature. No one knows exactly why this is - some think it is the repetition of the different evolutionary forms the plant has taken.
