Gardening Know How Questions & Answers - https://questions.gardeningknowhow.comI have huge elephant ears in pots. I’m in zone 5 so I must bring them in. In the past, I completely cut back one of my potted elephant ears in the fall. I kept that pot in bright light and it grew back and looked beautiful by spring. Was this just a fluke? I haven’t read anything that says you can cut the whole thing back and leave it in its pot, that just seems easier to me than digging it out and replanting later. It always says to remove the soil and let it dry out. I really don’t want to lose these gorgeous plants.
Thank you,
Stephanie

You did the right thing, although it is best to overwinter them inside if you are in doubt. they will actually root themselves, as long as your take a leaf and put it in sand or loose soil.
