Elephant ear bulbs

I planted the bulbs a week ago. They haven’t started sprouting yet and we had an unexpected frost overnight. How do I tell if the tubers are damaged?

It can take Elephant Ear bulbs 3 weeks to sprout. They are a large bulb and take time to wake up.
If the ground is cold and you see no signs of sprouting, the bulb may have suffered and it could be damaged beyond repair.
Bulbs can be started indoor 3 to 4 weeks before the last frost to give them a head start.
If you don’t see any signs of life from your bulb, I would dig it up and check the condition.
If it is soft and mushy, it should be thrown away.
