I am not sure about the scent of the flower. Yes, those red berries contain the seeds. Once the berries are mature, it is best to actually plant the seeds indoors right away instead of waiting till spring. Once the seeds are removed from the berries, they die quickly, so the best method is to take the seeds directly out of the berries, rinse them, and plant them.
