Eggplant Problems

I live in coastal sub tropical Queensland in Australia and have planted three types of eggplant – Calliope, Ivory and Nancy. All have yielded fruit but the fruit from all three varieties always contain more seeds than flesh. Any ideas to stop this from happening?

Typically this condition is caused by letting your fruit become too mature. I would recommend trying to pick the fruit at an earlier stage. If you find that the fruit are too small before you pick them, then this is a sign that the plants are under too much stress. Try giving them some additional water and some nutrients, either from compost or fertilizer.
