What is the cause and solution of white colour on the leaves?

If you see a white, powder-like substance on the leaves, this is powdery mildew. Please see these articles for help:

If instead the leaves are turning pale green/yellow and then almost white, this could be sunburn or a nutrient deficiency. See this article:
