Your mini pumpkins are ripe and ready to harvest when the skin is becoming harder and the stem starts to darken.
Remove the ripe ones from the vine and continue to let the others grow on the vine. You never know how long the weather will continue to nurture the plants and pumpkins. If early frost threatens you can cover the plants to protect them.
