Eastern Washington Soils

Zone 6a | Tubbles added on August 30, 2012 | Answered

What are the soil amendments for lawns in Ephrata, Washington: zip 98823? We are having trouble with our lawn dying in large spots. Also, what kinds of amendments will we need for preparing our garden soil in this area? I do know that our soil becomes very hard after watering, which I assume is a clay. Please advise, Tubbles

Tilling helps and is preferable. If you can't till, you can use lasagna methods for amending the soil. These articles will help: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/garden-how-to/soil-fertilizers/lasagna-gardening.htm
