Earwigs In Potted Plants

We have used several wiskey barrels and pots this year, and I now find they are infested with earwigs. I have read that dishsoap, such as Dawn, kills them but will it harm geraniums (zonal) and lobelias if I mix the soap in water and pour it in the pots? Any other ideas? The plants are getting a little stressed but not a total loss yet.
