Q.Dying or Diseased Red Trumpet

Anonymous added on May 4, 2014 | Answered

My red trumpet vines start to bloom but then they just appear to close up or die out. What could be my problem? Plant start two years ago from a friend’s plant and his are doing just great. They were not cut back this year. What kind of problem do you think that I have? Thanks.

It sounds like it may be thrips. They can attack the base of the flowers and kill them before they open. This article will help: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/plant-problems/pests/insects/controlling-thrips.htm
