Q.Dying Aspen Trees

Zone 97756 | Lori Kallberg added on April 24, 2017 | Answered

I have a home in Sisters Oregon. The aspen trees are getting a black mold or something all over the trunks. It almost look like they have been burned black. Also some others have a split in the bark that runs 4 or five feet lone. The leaves have not budded out yet so don’t know what they look like.
Thank you.
Lori

There are several disease and pests that can cause issues for the Aspen Trees.

It may be Sooty Bark Canker.
