Dwarf Apricot Tree

I over fertilized a dwarf apricot tree and it appeared to die. It then started growing again and looked like an apricot bush. It did not produce apricots this year and it now has thorns on it. I pruned the excess bushiness off at ground level and left the original tree intact. Is this apricot tree salvagable? Is there anything I can do to get it to start producing again?

You may have a plant from the rootstock. If so, you won’t have what you were supposed to have. You might get some type fruit, but it won’t be what you wanted.
