Dumb Cane Plant

I have a dumb cane plant (not sure if that is the correct name) that I have started rooting and along the trunk it has gotten little spiny things. I am not sure as to what has happened to it and if can be cured.

Dieffenbachia, or Dumb Cane has a “node” on the cane where each leaf was. The node contains the new growth, and where branching begins. The little bumps, shaped similarly to the “heart” of a corn kernel, will emerge as shown in the picture of this link: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/houseplants/hpgen/propagating-houseplants-from-cane-cuttings-and-divisions.htm [1]
Don’t be alarmed, the plant is doing what it’s made to do!
