Q.Drying thyme

Zone 7a? | Gillyclan added on November 19, 2015 | Answered

I have the dehydrator and I have tried a bunch of thyme on the stem. Removing the stem is proving quite a job. I know when it is fresh it is no good to eat, but now that it is dry, can I blend it in with the leaves? What does the stem taste like if it is blended? Will it ruin the flavor of the dried thyme if it is blended with the leaves?

I find that if I place the dried stems of Thyme in a plastic bag, I can manipulate the leaves off of the stems by squeezing the herbs with my fingers. The leaves drop off and the stems can then be removed from the bag.
Then what ever small bits of stems remain could be ground up.
I do try to remove as much of the stems as possible.
