dry leaves on peonies

It has been a very dry summer. Peony leaves all brown and dry. Should I cut them off now in September? I live in upstate NY.

Yes, you can cut off leaves that are completely dry and brown. If all the leaves are brown, you can cut them all back now. If some leaves are still green, wait until those ones die later in the fall before cutting them.
