Part of it is the transplant shock, but it also may have gotten hit with too much fertilizer. Since you planted with compost that should have been sufficient for a while. I would have held out fertilizer till next spring. You didn't say how much fertilizer you added but it may not hurt to add in a little topsoil or unfertilized potting soil to dilute its effect.
