Dogwood Trees

I planted five dogwoods last fall – three pink and two white. I followed the planting instructions meticulously. I understand they are easy to grow. All five of them failed to bud this spring and appear to be dead. What could be the cause?

Did you have a bad winter, as much of us did? Unusually cold weather could have damaged the trees and subsequent buds. Generally, if the trees survived, they will slowly recover, though blooming may not occur this season.
