Q.Dogwood Looks Dead On Top Sprouts On Bottom Trunk

Zone irondale, AL 35210 | Lynn Craft added on April 8, 2020 | Answered

should I remove the dead top. This is a very old tree on the side of a cliff, planted below hardwood trees. Has been beautiful for the last 20 years and then just died. However when I was about to remove I noticed sprouts on the trunk.

It will, likely, do something from the trunk. It will not return to its original form, but it may start to grow again. Make sure to cut off any dead growth, and care for it as usual.
