Q.Dogwood

I planted a dogwood tree this spring and it was blooming nicely. Now all the leaves are brown and falling off. I followed the instructions on the tree. It is planted so that it gets morning and midmorning sun. Technically it is not planted next to other trees, but my neighbors both on the side of my home and the back of my home (next to the fence where my tree is) have trees up against my fence. I bought a drip bag and filled it up approximately every three days when I planted it. I also placed a spike fertilizer in the ground around it (not on top of the new roots). It has been somewhat rainier this spring (right now we are experiencing TS Cindy so it has rained every day for a week). Our soil is somewhat sandy but I did use a soil made for flowering trees and shrubs. Is there any hope for this tree? Sorry I can’t upload a photo as my phone is not cooperating.

Dogwoods are susceptible to many fungal diseases, especially during wet periods. This article may help
