Does zoysia grass grow back after being set on fire?

Does zoysia grass grow back after being set on fire? My dad;s backyard caught on fire when the neighbor was burning his old garden. The yard was set on fire and it spread all over and now it’s just black soot. Will it grow back or do we need to put sod down? Thanks!

Burning to remove thatch can be done in the early spring. Check with your local government on regulations in your area.
