Does asters yellow contaminate the soil?

I have a clear case of asters yellow in one of my favorite coneflowers. Of course, I will destroy it, but wonder if I can plant a new one in its spot next year? I would hate to keep losing plants.

Thanks.

From all the research I looked at, no it does not stay in the soil. It has to live in the host plant.
I think I would wait and make sure all the roots were gone from the location.
Here are a few articles.
