Q.cutting back hibiscus

Zone Southeast Texas | Pammiejam added on January 22, 2015 | Answered

Do you have to cut back the bad limbs on a hibiscus in the late winter or early spring? After summer and when we get our first freeze, all the leaves, etc. died. In the spring do we need to cut back the limbs so the new leaves can come out?

Yes, spring is the most ideal time for pruning this plant. Remove any old, dead or unsightly growth. This article has more information that should help: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/flowers/hibiscus/tips-for-pruning-hibiscus-plants-when-to-prune-hibiscus.htm
