do wisteria only bloom once a year

I have a wisteria tree for several years now and it blooms once a year. It is now the end of July and I noticed two flowers are starting to bloom. Is there any reason for this, not complaining but would like to know. Thank you

They typically bloom once a year but with wisteria you can occasionally get a second, very light flush of flowers.

The reason it happens is that while we enjoy a plant’s flowers, a plant’s main objective is to produce seeds. If the plant does not feel it has produced enough seeds, it will try to flower again in an attempt to make seeds. It does not hurt the plant. Some plants are more aggressive about this than others, so if they do not produce enough seeds with the first flowering, you can get a full second flowering. Wisteria is not aggressive about this, but late season blooms are not unusual.
