Q.Do Spider Plants Like Growing In Water
My curly spider baby was very unwell growing in soil, even though I’ve followed other experts saying they like African Violet potting Mix which it was in, but her roots did did not take hold of the soil as I could just lift her out! I’ve transferred this baby to distilled water and hope she will pick up. I’ve taken many pups from this lovely obliging plant but I would be most distressed if she died. Please advise if these plants can remain in distilled water for their life rather than soil? Also please advise what is the best tonic/fertilizer for them in water? Lastly are individual grow lights a good idea for these plants? Thankyou very much for taking the time to help my green baby and me.

You can root plants in water, but it is best not to leave your spider plant in water continuously. If you want to try it anyway, you will need to add nutrients just like you would for a hydroponic system. You could use a liquid houseplant food, but you then run the risk of accumulated salts.
