Q.do I plant in Sun or shade?

Zone crown point, IN | Anonymous added on October 30, 2016 | Answered

When I purchased the plant, the tag said to plant in sun. Your instruction says plant in shade. Which is correct? Also, what time of year do I cut the plant down? When I bought it, the plant had already bloomed, but it had grown almost 2 feet. It is called Roseum Pink Rhododendron. Thank you.

This moderate growing plant needs a planting location with partial sun.
This variety does not like harsh afternoon sun so a morning sun location is fine.

This variety needs regular watering especially during warm temperatures.
Feed this plant an acid fertilizer after blooming.
Keep the roots cool with a good layer of hard wood mulch, this will also protect it during the winter.
Pruning should take place after blooming.

You do not want to 'cut the plant down'.
Prune any dead or damaged branches and the link below will help with pruning information for your variety of Rhododendron.
