Do I break off shoots?

As the young plants grow, at every leaf, there is a “shoot” or as my daddy called them on tomatoes-‘suckers”. Do I snap these off?

Suckers can produce flowers the same as main branches. Whether or not you remove the suckers is a personal choice. These articles will explain more:
