Dividing a tropical hibiscus

I have a tropical hibiscus that is showing roots at the top of the soil. I have had it for years and have repotted many times. My problem is that if I repot it again, I won’t be able to move it or put it outside in the spring and summer time. Can I divide a tropical hibiscus?

Unless they are “growing” by putting out suckers (stems from the ground), you cannot divide them. You would be better pruning to control their size. This article will help with that:

You can also repot it in a rolling container (planter with wheels), which should help with moving the plant in and out as necessary.
