Gardening Know How Questions & Answers - https://questions.gardeningknowhow.comWe’ve had our plan approx 8 yrs. It is now taller than i am (5’9″) and bigger around than a tractor tire with full dense growth. We have reported it several times. I noticed that it has started sending out roots from above the soil line (alot of roots). Would it be safe to divide this plant or better to take off individual branches. And, are these branches to big/old to cut off and reroot?

Its single-stem growing habit does not allow you to split the dwarf schefflera at the root; instead, propagation is done through cuttings, seeds and air-layering. … Air-layering divides the plant into two separate plants without damaging the existing plant.
