Dirt splashing

Whenever it rains, the water comes off the roof into one spot next to my patio. The dirt splashes up all over the siding and patio. I rent, so cleaning the gutter three stories above me is not an option. What can I put over the dirt to stop the splashing?

Mulch, rock, or even pine needles will help.
