Q.digging holes in lawn
Some animal is digging holes in my lawn. They do this at night or early morning. I have never seen the action taking place. I do have the odd grey squirrel visit the garden in the day time. I would be grateful for your advice.

It probably isn't gophers or moles because these diggings aren't mound-like. A likely suspect is a raccoon or skunk. These guys often dig for grubs underneath the top layer of grass and soil and can ravage a lawn.
