Hello, we moved to our house last year and this diamond shape appeared on our lawn. It went over winter but has come back worse. Please see pic. Any help appreciated.

It's not characteristic of any pest or disease pattern that I know of. It must be a wear pattern from foot traffic or kids play area? , or underlying soil compaction or other soil disturbance.
