destroying bindweed

I have an area about 200 sq feet that has been invaded by bindweed. If I put down a black plastic mulch, will that kill it? I normally don’t like to use plastic mulch, but if it gets rid of the bindweed, I will use it for a few seasons.

Yes, black plastic mulch can be used to eradicate bindweed. However, you have other options if you are not totally comfortable with that, which are discussed in the following article:
