have a beautiful hydrangea bush, when deer dont eat it down! what can we do to prevent the deer from eating out bush every year from the time it comes out to the time is diws for winter? each time we have to put up a fence – pain. BTW we have dwarf Stella d ora lilies, soon as they turn green they continue eating those down to ground!!! anything we can do please?f

I'd focus on layered deterrents. Start with a strong deer repellent spray—products with putrescent egg solids, garlic, or capsaicin tend to work best. Apply early in the season and reapply after rain. Motion-activated sprinklers or solar-powered ultrasonic deterrents can add another layer of defense without the pain of fencing. You might also try placing fishing line 2–3 feet off the ground around the plants—deer don’t like what they can’t see. It’s not foolproof, but with consistency, you can keep your hydrangeas and lilies from becoming a buffet.
