Dead Nettles

When my Dead Nettles die back the flowers leave a prickly residual sort of bulb. My wife says that I should clip them off. Should I? Would that help or hinder the plant?

Thank you,

Shear the plants back after blossoming in their peak season to encourage well-branched plants and a hearty second bloom.
