Dark Patches In Turf

Had turf laid in May. Over the last few weeks dark green patches with different texture grass that is growing at a rapid rate.

This is common when mushroom mycelium makes its way to the area. Mushrooms tend to break down organic matter at a rapid rate, which tends to make it available to the plant, much faster.

Likely, at some point, you will notice mushroom fruiting bodies come from these patches of healthy grass.

Ideally, you want your whole lawn to do this. Sometimes, taking plugs from these areas and moving them to less than attractive areas can help inoculate the soil and spread the mycelium around.
