Q.Damaged Wisteria Vine

Anonymous added on July 30, 2011 | Answered

My puppy has chewed the vine of my 1-year-old wisteria. It’s chewed close to the bottom of the plant, not right through, but has chewed the brown bark off. Will it die? The leaves seem to be drying out. Please help!

I don't pretend to be a whiz on wisteria but they are pretty tough and love to produce lots of plant. If this part dies, they may produce new leaves from the roots. If it was my plant, I would temporarily wrap ithe barkless area with duct tape. Just put it on the part that does not have bark, however.
