cutting st. augustine runners

I think I remember someone telling me that once St. Augustine grass starts sending out runners, you can increase the number of runners by cutting the primary runners at a certain point and more runners will grow from the cutting joint. Is this true?

You are correct in that the St Augustine turf does send out runners. I have not been able to find any source that directs you to cut the runners to induce more growth.
